Tradewind Recruitment is seeking committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of primary, secondary, and specialist SEN schools throughout Middlesbrough. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will involve supporting teachers and pupils with a range of special educational needs. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to pupils with additional learning needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or MLDA
  • Assisting the classroom teacher with lesson delivery and differentiation
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation
  • Helping pupils access learning through tailored support and communication strategies
  • Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence and confidence

We work with a wide variety of mainstream and specialist SEN schools, allowing you to experience different settings and age groups — helping you find the right fit.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally with special educational needs (school or care setting experience desirable)
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Two professional references covering the last 2 years
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their potential
