About the Role\\n\\nWe are seeking a dedicated, resilient and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), supporting secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.\\n\\nMany pupils have experienced barriers to education and may present with complex emotional, behavioural, and social needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping pupils re-engage with learning and develop positive coping strategies.\\n\\nStudents follow a range of pathways, including GCSE subjects and Functional Skills qualifications.\\n\\nNeeds You Will Support\\n\\nPupils in our PRU may present with:\\n\\nSEMH needs\\n\\nChallenging behaviour and emotional disregulation\\n\\nADHD\\n\\nAutism Spectrum Condition (ASC)\\n\\nAnxiety, low self-esteem, and mental health needs\\n\\nTrauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)\\n\\nAttachment-related needs\\n\\nSpeech, language and communication difficulties\\n\\nKey Responsibilities\\n\\nProvide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils in lessons and interventions\\n\\nSupport pupils working towards GCSEs and Functional Skills\\n\\nAssist pupils to manage emotions and behaviour using trauma-informed and restorative approaches\\n\\nSupport engagement, motivation, and positive learning behaviours\\n\\nWork closely with teaching staff to adapt learning and behaviour strategies\\n\\nSupport pupils during transitions, unstructured times, and off-site activities if required\\n\\nContribute to behaviour plans, risk assessments, and individual support plans\\n\\nThe Ideal Candidate Will:\\n\\nHave experience working with children or young people with SEMH and behavioural needs\\n\\nBe calm, patient, and consistent, even in challenging situations\\n\\nUnderstand the impact of trauma on behaviour and learning\\n\\nBe committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing\\n\\nDesirable (but not essential):\\n\\nExperience working in a PRU, alternative provision, or SEN setting\\n\\nTraining in de-escalation, behaviour management, or Team Teach\\n\\nKnowledge of Functional Skills and vocational pathways\\n\\nIn some settings there is a requirement to drive also \\n\\nWhat We Offer\\n\\nOngoing CPD and training opportunities\\n\\nThe chance to make a genuine difference to vulnerable young people\\n\\nA rewarding role in a specialist education setting\\n\\nSafeguarding\\n\\nTradewind is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
