Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or Youth Worker looking for a rewarding role supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Tradewind Recruitment is working with a friendly and inclusive school in the NG13 area seeking a Full-Time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from Monday 1st June 2026. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering the chance to secure a long-term, permanent role in a supportive school environment.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support to succeed in school.

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Support behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and structured learning activities
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to support confidence and wellbeing
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral staff
  • Help maintain a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment
SEMH Teaching Assistant - Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional needs
  • Background in education, youth work, care, support work, or mental health support is desirable
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to adapt to different pupil needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
