Nurture Teacher - Alternative Provision (SEND/SEMH)

Start: September 2026 (or sooner for the right candidate)

Full Time Temporary to Permanent Opportunity.

Pay: Competitive and Negotiable.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm.

We are seeking a dedicated Nurture Teacher to deliver core subjects within a structured, supportive environment focused on re‑engagement and reintegration into mainstream education where possible. This is a full-time temporary to permanent role within a highly supportive provision, working with small classes and strong multi‑agency support.

The Role

  • Teach core subjects (English, Maths and/or Science) to small groups aged 11‑16.
  • Deliver learning from a set scheme of work with strong differentiation to meet individual needs.
  • Support pupils working below age‑related expectations due to SEND, SEMH or gaps in learning.
  • Work within a nurture‑based, trauma‑informed and relational practice approach.
  • Contribute to alternative education pathways focused on reintegration and progression.
  • Work closely with on‑site social workers, learning mentors and support staff.
  • Create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.

The Provision

The setting supports young people at risk of exclusion or disengagement from education. Pupils may present with SEMH needs, autism, ADHD, anxiety, or attachment‑related difficulties. The focus is on re‑engagement, emotional regulation, and academic progress through small group teaching and personalised support.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) essential.
  • Experience teaching SEND, SEMH or within Alternative Provision.
  • Strong understanding of differentiation and nurture‑based approaches.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and reintegration pathways.
  • Excellent behaviour management and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to deliver structured learning in small group settings.
