Key Responsibilities
- 1:1 Mentorship: Provide dedicated emotional and academic support to a Year 10 pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- De-escalation: Use positive behaviour management strategies (e.g., Team Teach) to support the pupil through periods of crisis or anxiety.
- Academic Engagement: Help the pupil access their GCSE curriculum by breaking down tasks and maintaining focus.
- Reporting: Work closely with the SENCO and external agencies to track progress and adjust Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience working with SEMH, ADHD, or ASC, ideally within a Secondary school or PRU (Pupil Referral Unit).
- Resilience: The ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging behaviour with a therapeutic approach.
- Commitment: A desire for a long-term career move; we are looking for someone to become a permanent member of this school community.
- Qualifications: Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred, but relevant experience in Youth Work or Social Care will be considered.
