Design Technology Technician Required for a Sefton Secondary School.
Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced and reliable Design Technology Technician to join a secondary school in Sefton on a full-time basis, starting immediately. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled DT Technician with experience working within a school, college, workshop or similar practical environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the Design Technology department, ensuring lessons can be delivered safely and effectively across a range of practical subjects.
The Role - Design Technology Technician
- Preparing, maintaining and organising equipment and materials for Design Technology lessons.
- Supporting teachers and students during practical lessons.
- Ensuring workshops, classrooms and equipment are safe, clean and ready for use.
- Maintaining and checking a wide range of Design Technology tools, machinery and equipment.
- Supporting practical work across areas such as resistant materials, woodwork, graphics and other DT disciplines.
- Carrying out routine maintenance and reporting any faults or safety concerns.
- Managing stock levels and ordering materials when required.
- Ensuring all equipment is used in accordance with school health and safety procedures.
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the Design Technology department.
Requirements
- Have previous experience working with Design Technology equipment and machinery.
- Hold an appropriate Health & Safety certificate/qualification covering the safe use of relevant DT equipment and machinery.
- Have a strong understanding of workshop and machinery safety.
- Be confident using and maintaining a range of practical equipment.
- Be organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Have excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to health and safety.
- Ideally have previous experience working within a secondary school or educational setting.
- Be able to start immediately.
To be considered, you will need:
- An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full career history.
- At least two professional references, including your most recent placement.
- The legal right to work in the UK.
