We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive Primary School team, working with pupils and young people with Autism and Learning Disabilities. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping children feel safe, supported, and confident in their learning. You will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, helping them to develop independence, communication skills, and positive relationships within a nurturing and structured school environment.
The Role
- Provide tailored support to pupils with Autism and Learning Disabilities, both 1:1 and in small groups
- Support learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
- Promote engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
- Support pupils with social communication and emotional regulation
- Assist with personal care where required
- Create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)
- Has a patient, calm, and empathetic approach
- Communicates effectively with pupils, staff, and parents
- Works well as part of a team and follows school policies
- Is committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
