Tradewind Recruitment is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Harrow seeking a Science Technician to join their team from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the science department, supporting teachers and students while helping to ensure the smooth running of laboratory-based lessons.
Science Technician - Role OverviewAs a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education. You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare resources, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe and well-organised laboratory environment.
- Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for practical science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
- Cleaning, maintaining, and storing laboratory equipment safely and correctly
- Preparing chemical solutions and managing stock levels of resources and consumables
- Supporting the organisation and upkeep of laboratories and prep rooms
- Carrying out risk assessments and helping to ensure safe practical work
- Managing the safe disposal of waste materials in line with school policies
- Supporting the science department with general administrative and technical tasks
Previous experience in a laboratory, school, or technical environment (desirable but not essential). A strong interest in science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics background desirable). Good understanding of health and safety procedures in a lab setting (training can be provided). Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
A supportive and well-resourced secondary school in Harrow. Full-time role: Monday to Friday, term-time only. Opportunity to work within a dynamic science department. Ongoing training and professional development opportunities. Potential for a long-term or permanent position.
