Science Teacher (Biology, Chemistry & Physics) - Barrow-in-Furness

Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria

Pay Rate: £150 - £240 per day (dependant on experience)

Contract: Full-time or Part-time

Duration: ASAP - July (Long-term)

The Opportunity

Are you an enthusiastic Scientist looking for a rewarding role in a supportive educational environment? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in the Barrow-in-Furness area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a specialist capable of teaching Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. We are happy to consider both full-time and part-time applicants to suit your availability. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and marking high-quality lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, ensuring students of all abilities develop a deep understanding of scientific principles and are fully prepared for their GCSEs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging practical and theoretical lessons across KS3 and GCSE cohorts.
  • Assessment: Consistently mark student work and provide constructive feedback to drive academic progress and exam readiness.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe and productive laboratory environment; you should feel confident in managing classroom behaviour effectively.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside a dynamic Science department and technicians to ensure high standards of learning.

Requirements & Skills

We are looking for a professional who possesses:

  • Subject Expertise: A degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics (or a related Science discipline).
  • Qualifications: A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, QTLS, or PGCE).
  • Technical Knowledge: A strong command of the Science curriculum and practical lab safety.
  • Experience: Proven experience teaching the UK curriculum at the secondary level.
