Tradewind is partnering with a primary school in the Mossley area that is urgently looking for a dedicated and proactive Caretaker to join their team on a long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in maintenance or general caretaking, though the school will consider candidates who are capable and willing to learn. The position offers up to 30 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs around the school site, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks as needed.
- Groundskeeping: Ensure the school grounds are well-maintained, including cleaning outdoor areas, maintaining gardens, and managing waste disposal.
- Health and Safety: Ensure all areas of the school are safe, clean, and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Security: Lock and unlock school premises at the start and end of each shift, ensuring the building is secure at all times.
- General Support: Provide general support to staff and students as required, assisting with deliveries, setting up rooms, and supporting school events.
Shift Patterns:
Would manage 20 hrs a week for now. 6:30-10 and then 3-6pm but up for negotiation.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience: Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or facilities role is ideal, though not essential.
- Practical Skills: Able to carry out a variety of maintenance tasks including basic repairs, painting, and grounds maintenance.
- Proactive & Reliable: You should be proactive in identifying areas that need attention and have a strong sense of responsibility for ensuring the premises are kept in excellent condition.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team but also comfortable working independently and managing your own workload.
- Good Communication: Strong communication skills to liaise with staff and external contractors when necessary.
