We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated School Premises Assistant to join a group of inclusive and supportive secondary schools in the Croydon area. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong premises management expertise who is looking to develop their career within a forward-thinking educational environment that offers genuine opportunities for progression.
The Role
As a key member of the school operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school site is safe, secure, well-maintained, and fully compliant with Health & Safety standards. You will also provide effective line management and work closely with senior leaders, contractors, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of school premises and site operations
- Line management and supervision of premises staff
- Ensuring full Health & Safety compliance, including risk assessments and statutory checks
- Managing and liaising with contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to a high standard
- Overseeing site security, opening/closing procedures, and emergency response
- Maintaining accurate records using IT systems, including Outlook and other digital platforms
- Supporting the school's commitment to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous and relevant experience working as a premises assistant, caretaker, or site manager within a school or similar setting
- Proven line management experience
- Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance
- Experience managing contractors and external services
- High level of IT competency, particularly with Outlook and other administrative systems
- A proactive, reliable, and professional approach with excellent communication skills
