Position: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Full-Time / Permanent (Immediate Start)

Salary: £102.89 - £115.89 per day

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Specialist Pupil Support: Assist students with diverse special educational needs (SEN) across daily interactive lessons, activities, and curriculum tasks.
  • Engaging Learning Environment: Help deliver fun, engaging, and creative learning spaces designed to ensure progress across all areas of the curriculum.
  • Communication & Engagement: Support alternative communication methods, emotional wellbeing, and positive social interaction strategies.
  • Welfare & Personal Care: Support pupils with pastoral care and daily routines with warmth, patience, and dignity.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with specialist teachers, multi-agency professionals, and families to support holistic student development.

Person Specification & Requirements

  • Experience: Previous professional background or strong volunteering experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), or a care/support background.
  • Key Attributes: Exceptional patience, emotional resilience, high empathy, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • Compliance: Must hold a current, valid Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or be in a position to process one immediately) and be available for an immediate start.
