Do you have a passion for supporting young people and helping them re-engage with education? Tradewind Recruitment in Durham are currently looking for compassionate and flexible 1:1 Tutors to support Looked After Children (LAC) across North Yorkshire (Richmondshire area) through personalised tuition.

The Role

As a LAC Tutor, you will provide tailored educational support to young people in care, many of whom may have experienced interruptions in their schooling. Your role will focus on helping students rebuild confidence in learning and achieve their individual educational goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering individualised tuition sessions, primarily in English and Maths, either face-to-face or online
  • Designing and adapting lesson plans to meet individual needs, including EHCP and PEP targets
  • Encouraging engagement, confidence, and motivation through supportive teaching approaches
  • Working closely with Virtual Schools, carers, social workers, and education settings to ensure joined-up support
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and contributing to ongoing educational planning

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to hear from individuals who:

  • Have experience teaching, tutoring, or supporting vulnerable young people, particularly those in care or with SEMH needs
  • Are understanding of the unique challenges faced by children in the care system
  • Can adapt their teaching methods to suit different abilities and learning styles
  • Are patient, reliable, and committed to helping young people succeed
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle to travel across North Yorkshire

A teaching qualification such as QTS or QTLS would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome applicants with relevant experience and a strong commitment to supporting young people.
