Are you a Psychology Graduate looking to kick start your career in Education or Mental Health?

We are seeking a high-calibre Psychology Graduate to work as a Specialist Mentor within an Alternative Provision in Blackburn. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on, front line experience supporting young people with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

If you are planning a future career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Speech & Language Therapy, this role will provide you with the essential experience required for your portfolio.

The Role

Theory into Practice: Apply your knowledge of child development, attachment theory, and behavioural psychology to support students who have disengaged from mainstream education.

Behaviour as Communication: Support students with challenging behaviours, using your understanding of mental health to de-escalate situations and identify triggers.

1:1 Intervention: Work closely with specific students to build self-esteem, improve emotional regulation, and assist with academic tasks.

Data & Reporting: Help monitor student progress and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings regarding student wellbeing.

Degree: A BSc or BA in Psychology (or a related Social Science).

Resilience: The ability to stay calm and professional when faced with challenging behaviour and high-pressure situations.

Empathy: A deep-seated desire to understand the \”why\” behind a child\’s actions.

Reliability: Someone who can commit to an ASAP start and provide a consistent presence for our students.
