Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with primary schools across Brent to find an experienced Year 5 Teacher for September 2026. Positions are available on a full-time or part-time basis.

Year 5 is a pivotal year of preparation. You will deliver the KS2 National Curriculum with high expectations across reading, writing, mathematics and the wider curriculum, building pupils' independence, analytical thinking and academic resilience ahead of Year 6. You will monitor and respond to pupil progress data, deliver targeted interventions where needed, and work collaboratively with teaching assistants and SENCO colleagues to ensure every pupil - including those with SEND and EAL - is stretching towards their potential. Schools value teachers who bring ambition and energy to Year 5 and who set high but achievable expectations from day one.

What we are looking for:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
  • Solid KS2 teaching experience, ideally in Years 4-6
  • High subject knowledge across the primary curriculum, particularly English and mathematics
  • Confident in preparing pupils for upper KS2 expectations and the step up to Year 6
  • Skilled in differentiation and targeted intervention for SEND, EAL and mixed-ability groups
  • Data-driven approach to monitoring progress and planning next steps
  • Strong behaviour management with an aspirational, growth mindset approach
  • Up-to-date safeguarding and child protection knowledge
