Social Emotional Mental Health Support Assistants Needed in Rochdale! Are you looking for a rewarding role supporting primary-age pupils? Tradewind Recruitment is hiring Support Assistants to work with Rochdale's Pupil Referral Service for primary children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30 am - 3:15 pm
- Friday: 8:30 am - 1:45 pm
These are full-time temporary roles with strong potential to become permanent. Please note: These are full-time roles and cannot be offered on a part-time basis. Due to the complex social, emotional, and mental health needs of the students, consistency is absolutely vital. Breaks in support can significantly impact their progress and wellbeing. In some cases, inconsistent support has been linked to a heightened risk of crisis, including serious mental health deterioration. We are therefore looking for committed individuals who understand the importance of reliable, ongoing support for vulnerable young people.
The Role
- Support children aged 5-11 with SEMH needs
- Provide 1:1 and small group support
- Help deliver personalised learning and support positive behaviour
- Encourage emotional regulation, confidence, and social skills development
- Work closely with families and professionals to support each child's success
What We’re Looking For
- TA qualifications are welcome but not essential
- At least 3 months' recent experience working with young children (school, youth work, clubs, etc.)
- Calm, patient, and confident in managing behaviour
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Passionate about helping vulnerable young learners thrive
