Contract & Duration:

  • Position Type: Full-time, Temporary (Fixed Term)
  • Duration: September 1, 2026 - December 18, 2026 (Full Autumn Term)

Salary/Rate: £1568.80 - £245 per day (Dependent on experience / MPS/UPS scale parity)

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and qualified Teacher of Science to join a vibrant secondary school community in the Preston area for the Autumn Term 2026. This fixed-term contract runs from the start of the academic year in September 2026 through to the Christmas break in December 2026.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE). Applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a strong science background are highly welcome.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-impact Science lessons aligned with the National Curriculum.
  • Manage practical laboratory work safely and effectively in accordance with CLEAPSS guidelines.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
  • Maintain a positive, structured learning environment that encourages academic curiosity.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and standard school INSET training days at the start of the term.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
  • A degree in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or general Combined Science).
  • Proven experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4 within a UK secondary school.
  • Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to student safeguarding.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
