The Opportunity: Use Your Experience to Lead
Are you a confident leader looking to move away from the 9-to-5? Do you have the presence to command a room and the empathy to mentor young people? We are seeking individuals with transferable skills from sectors like the Police, Armed Forces, Sports Coaching, or Management to join our Preston secondary schools as Cover Supervisors. In this role, you aren’t teaching a subject; you are managing the environment. You will lead classrooms during teacher absences, ensuring students stay on task, remain safe, and follow the school’s behaviour policy. This is a Temp to Perm opportunity, giving you a full term to ensure the school is your "forever home" before transitioning to a permanent contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Leadership: Take charge of groups of 25-30 students, delivering pre-set work and ensuring a productive atmosphere.
- Behaviour Management: Use your life experience and "Preston grit" to de-escalate tension and maintain clear boundaries.
- SEMH Support: Act as a positive role model for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs who require a calm, authoritative presence.
- Daily Consistency: Ensure the "small wins" happen every day, keeping students engaged and supported.

- Public Sector / Military: For those with natural authority and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Sports Coaching / Personal Training: For those who know how to motivate groups and manage high energy.
- Youth Work / Social Care: For those who understand that "behaviour is communication" and can build rapport quickly.
