Pastoral Support Worker - Secondary Education – Location: Blackpool, Lancashire

Contract Type: Long-Term Agency Placement (Permanent potential)

Salary: Insert Daily Rate, e.g., 95 - 120 per day

Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm (Monday - Friday, Term-Time)

This is a high-impact role where you will be the first point of call for students needing emotional, social, or behavioural guidance. In this role, you aren’t just assisting a teacher; you are mentoring young people, managing attendance, and helping students navigate the challenges of secondary school life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Mentoring: Provide 1:1 and small group support for students struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, or social challenges.
  • Behaviour Support: Work alongside the pastoral team to implement positive behaviour strategies and de-escalate conflicts.
  • Attendance Liaison: Identify patterns of persistent absence and work with families to encourage re-engagement with education.
  • Crisis Intervention: Act as a safe, calm presence for students during high-stress moments or emotional outbursts.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure all student concerns are reported and managed in line with the school's safeguarding policies.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience: Previous experience in a pastoral role, youth work, or a similar environment (e.g., residential care or coaching) is essential.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with hard-to-reach teenagers, parents, and external agencies.
