Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting! Are you a resilient and compassionate teaching assistant looking for a rewarding full-time role in a primary school? We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing the best education for pupils with Special Educational Needs and can provide the very best education support for every pupil.

Applicants should possess relevant qualifications and experience suitable for working with children of primary school age and experience of supporting children with special educational needs is essential. This is a full‑time, long‑term role with a daily rate of up to £100 per day, offering the opportunity to make a lasting impact in a child's life.

Role Requirements
  • Experience of successfully supporting Special Education Needs pupils
  • Experience of supporting a child on a 1:1 or children in a small group basis
  • Experience of working with children with physical, communication and social needs
  • Has experience of using Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
  • Can maintain a safe and positive environment for all learners
  • Provide support for all children at break and lunchtimes
  • Can plan, prepare and participate in a range of activities that promote the child's holistic development, including physical, intellectual, emotional needs, and encourages social interaction between the child and other children and adults
  • A clear understanding of appropriate professional relationships and protocols when working with pupils and parents
  • Works in collaboration with other Senior Leaders, Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Lunchtime Supervisors
  • An ability to work as a team alongside the Class Teacher and other Teaching Assistants
  • A warm and nurturing disposition
  • Excellent basic skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT as well as an excellent command of spoken English
Personal Qualities
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or similar needs
  • Possess energy and enthusiasm
  • Works well within a team
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
  • A passion for making a difference in children's lives
  • Previous experience in a school or child‑centred setting
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of 12 months experience in a similar role
  • An enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • A CV that must cover the last 10 years of employment history (where possible)
  • Legal right to work in the UK
  • NVQ II or equivalent in Teaching Assistance
