We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school, providing 1:1 support to a Year 7 pupil.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential in a specialist educational setting.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide tailored support, helping the pupil engage positively with learning, develop social skills, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Year 7 student with additional educational needs.
  • Support the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the student.
  • Implement strategies to support communication, engagement, and emotional regulation.
  • Encourage independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff.
  • Record progress and contribute to review meetings where required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
  • Knowledge of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, or other additional needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
  • The ability to remain calm and proactive in challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
