Tradewind Recruitment are working with supportive and well‑regarded secondary schools in Northolt who are seeking a DT Technician to join their Design & Technology department on a full‑time, long‑term basis, with an immediate or January 2026 start. This role is ideal for someone with strong practical skills who enjoys working behind the scenes to support creative and technical learning.
DT Technician - Role Overview
- Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for DT lessons and practical activities.
- Supporting teachers and students during practical sessions in workshops and classrooms.
- Maintaining, checking, and safely storing tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Ensuring health & safety procedures are followed at all times, including risk assessments.
- Managing stock, ordering materials, and monitoring budgets where required.
- Setting up and clearing down workspaces for lessons, projects, and assessments.
- Assisting with displays, coursework moderation preparation, and exam projects.
- Supporting a range of DT areas such as resistant materials, graphics, textiles, or food technology (depending on experience).
Requirements
- Experience working in a DT, workshop, technical, or practical environment (school‑based experience desirable but not essential).
- Strong awareness of health & safety in a practical setting.
- Good organisational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive, flexible, and reliable approach.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
