Do you have a passion for inspiring young people and supporting students in their understanding of Science? We are currently recruiting for a Science Instructor to join a supportive secondary school in Northampton from June or September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for graduates, experienced tutors, cover supervisors, or unqualified teachers looking to build their experience within a school setting.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Science department to deliver engaging lessons and support students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Delivering engaging and structured Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
- Supporting lesson planning and adapting materials to meet different learning needs
- Explaining scientific concepts in clear and accessible ways
- Maintaining a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively and professionally
- Supporting students with classwork, practical activities, and independent learning
- Tracking pupil progress and providing feedback where required
- Participating in staff meetings, CPD sessions, and wider school activities
Who We're Looking For:
- Graduates with a degree in a Science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Science, etc.)
- Candidates with experience working with young people or within education
- Individuals with strong communication skills and confidence leading groups
- Enthusiastic, reliable, and proactive team players
- Those considering future teacher training routes such as PGCE, SCITT, or QTS Apprenticeships
- Applicants with an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
