We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and adaptable 1:1 Tutor to provide in-person support to students across Northampton who are awaiting placement in specialist provisions. This rewarding role involves working with young people referred by the Local Authority, delivering tailored educational support to help them remain engaged in learning during transition periods.
This opportunity offers flexible working with the potential to build up to a full-time timetable, depending on student referrals and availability. Tuition may take place in the home, community settings, or agreed safe learning environments, and will often involve supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH needs, and other additional challenges.
The role requires a confident and patient individual who can build strong, trusting relationships with students who may have experienced barriers to education. You will be responsible for planning and delivering personalised sessions that meet each learner's academic level, interests, and emotional needs.
Key requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or those out of mainstream education
- Ability to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons on a 1:1 basis
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- A flexible, resilient, and empathetic approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Experience with communication strategies such as PECS or Makaton, and an understanding of EHCPs, is highly desirable.
This role is offered through Tradewind Recruitment, who work closely with Local Authorities to support students outside of mainstream education. You will receive ongoing support and the opportunity to make a genuine impact on students' educational journeys. If you are passionate about supporting vulnerable learners and looking for flexible, meaningful work, we encourage you to apply today.
