We are seeking to appoint a skilled and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a strong literacy background to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in the Wellingborough/Rushden area. This role is ideal for an experienced TA or HLTA who is passionate about improving students' reading, writing, and communication skills, and who can support literacy development across the curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting teaching and learning through targeted literacy interventions
- Delivering small group and one-to-one literacy support sessions
- Working with departments to support literacy across the curriculum
- Supporting students with a range of needs, including SEND and EAL
- Monitoring and recording student progress in literacy interventions
- Occasionally covering classes where appropriate and pre-planned
- Contributing to whole-school literacy strategies and initiatives
The successful candidate will:
- Hold HLTA status or have significant experience working at HLTA level
- Have a strong background in literacy, English, or learning support
- Be confident supporting whole classes, small groups, and individuals
- Have excellent communication and behaviour management skills
- Be proactive, organised, and committed to raising literacy standards
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
