Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic tutor to deliver Employability and Personal & Social Development programmes to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students in an alternative provision setting.
The role is temp‑to‑perm and supports the school’s transition to a four‑day working week (8:30am–4:30pm, four days).
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging Employability and Personal & Social Development lessons to KS3 and KS4 students.
- Support learners to develop confidence, resilience, communication, and independence.
- Teach employability skills: CV writing, interview preparation, workplace expectations, teamwork, and career planning.
- Deliver PSD topics such as emotional wellbeing, relationships, personal safety, budgeting, health, and citizenship.
- Create an inclusive learning environment encouraging participation and personal growth.
- Build positive relationships with students who may have previously disengaged.
- Collaborate with pastoral, SEN, and safeguarding teams to support individual needs.
- Monitor progress and celebrate achievements academically and personally.
- Ideal Candidate
- Experience delivering Employability, PSD, PSHE, Life Skills, Careers Education, or similar programmes.
- Experience working with young people, ideally within Alternative Provision, SEN, mainstream education, youth work, or community settings.
- A strong understanding of the barriers faced by vulnerable young people.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
- A passion for helping young people develop the skills needed to succeed beyond school.
- A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant experience.
