Employability & PSD Tutor - Alternative Provision School, Northamptonshire, Temp-to-Perm, 4-Day Working Week.

Job Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic tutor to deliver Employability and Personal & Social Development programmes to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students in an alternative provision setting.

The role is temp‑to‑perm and supports the school’s transition to a four‑day working week (8:30am–4:30pm, four days).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging Employability and Personal & Social Development lessons to KS3 and KS4 students.
  • Support learners to develop confidence, resilience, communication, and independence.
  • Teach employability skills: CV writing, interview preparation, workplace expectations, teamwork, and career planning.
  • Deliver PSD topics such as emotional wellbeing, relationships, personal safety, budgeting, health, and citizenship.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment encouraging participation and personal growth.
  • Build positive relationships with students who may have previously disengaged.
  • Collaborate with pastoral, SEN, and safeguarding teams to support individual needs.
  • Monitor progress and celebrate achievements academically and personally.
  • Ideal Candidate
  • Experience delivering Employability, PSD, PSHE, Life Skills, Careers Education, or similar programmes.
  • Experience working with young people, ideally within Alternative Provision, SEN, mainstream education, youth work, or community settings.
  • A strong understanding of the barriers faced by vulnerable young people.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
  • A passion for helping young people develop the skills needed to succeed beyond school.
  • A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant experience.
