We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Science Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Durham from January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed educator to inspire learners across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong understanding of scientific principles.
Role Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Science lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Teach across KS3 and KS4, delivering content in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics; specialisms in any discipline are welcome.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where all students can thrive.
- Differentiating lessons effectively to meet a variety of learning needs, including those requiring additional support.
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, offering constructive feedback to support academic growth.
- Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations, including GCSE content and practical investigations.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, development of resources, and continuous improvement within the Science department.
- Support extracurricular or enrichment activities such as STEM clubs, science fairs, or revision sessions where possible.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Science at KS3-KS4.
- Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a combination of sciences.
- Excellent classroom management, communication skills, and a passion for inspiring young learners.
