Are you passionate about supporting young children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Would you like to make a lasting difference in the early stages of a child's development while working in a nurturing and inclusive environment?

We are working in partnership with a welcoming infant and preschool setting in Milton Keynes that is seeking a caring and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026 on a permanent basis. This is a wonderful opportunity for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with younger children and is committed to helping children with additional needs develop confidence, independence, communication skills, and a love for learning.

You will work closely with experienced practitioners, teachers, and the SEND team to provide tailored support for children, helping them overcome barriers and thrive within a safe, supportive, and engaging early years environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated support to children with SEND across the infant and preschool setting
  • Support children through play-based learning, structured activities, and daily routines
  • Deliver one-to-one and small-group support to encourage communication, confidence, and development
  • Work closely with teachers, early years practitioners, SENDCo, and external professionals to implement individual support plans and EHCP strategies
  • Support children with a range of needs including autism, speech and language difficulties, social communication needs, and developmental delays
  • Encourage children's independence, emotional development, and social skills
  • Help children develop positive relationships with peers and adults
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual developmental needs
  • Support emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour
  • Observe, monitor, and record children's progress, sharing feedback with the wider team
  • Assist with personal care needs where required

Qualifications & Experience

  • A genuine passion for supporting young children with SEND
  • A caring, patient, and nurturing approach
  • The ability to build strong and trusting relationships with children and families
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence supporting children through play, learning, and daily routines
  • Experience working in an early years, nursery, childcare, education, or SEND setting is desirable but not essential
  • A flexible, proactive, and reliable attitude
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
