SEND TA - Primary School - Milton Keynes

We are working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Milton Keynes that is seeking to appoint a compassionate and dedicated SEND TA to join their team from September 2026 on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to support children with a range of additional needs in a nurturing learning environment where every child is encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Role

As a SEND TA, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff to provide tailored support that enables pupils with additional needs to access learning and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Support children with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs and promote inclusion within the classroom.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence, communication, and social development.
  • Support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning targets.
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and parents to support pupil progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with classroom preparation and contribute to the wider life of the school.
  • Who We're Looking For
  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a school, nursery, childcare, or similar setting is desirable.
  • A patient, caring, and empathetic approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • A flexible, proactive, and resilient attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification are desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
