Maths Teaching Assistant – Secondary School
Location: Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire
Start date: September 2026
Contract: Full‑time, permanent
Salary: £24,031 – £26,920 per annum (dependent on experience)
We are looking for a Maths Teaching Assistant to join our successful and inclusive secondary school. The successful candidate will support the maths department in delivering engaging and effective lessons across Key Stages3 and4.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, resource preparation and classroom activities for maths lessons.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to strengthen mathematical understanding.
- Deliver targeted interventions to improve confidence, skills and academic progress.
- Support students with SEND and additional learning needs during maths lessons.
- Encourage independence and a positive approach to learning.
- Build strong relationships with students, teachers and support staff.
Candidate Profile
- Passion for mathematics and a desire to support others to learn.
- Experience working with young people in a school, mentoring, coaching or similar environment (desirable but not essential).
- Confident in supporting students with mathematics across secondary age groups.
- Clear ability to explain mathematical ideas and adapt support to different learning needs.
- Patient, encouraging and positive approach when working with young people.
- Reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team.
