A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Milton Keynes is seeking an Inclusion Support Officer to join its student support team on a permanent basis from September 2026. This role focuses on promoting inclusion, improving student engagement, and supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning. You will work closely with the pastoral, SEND, and safeguarding teams to provide targeted support to students who require additional guidance, helping them build confidence, resilience and positive relationships within school.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students requiring additional academic, behavioural, or emotional support
- Deliver targeted interventions to improve engagement, attendance, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour
- Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD, and other additional learning needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage students to engage fully with school life
- Work closely with teaching staff, SENDCo, pastoral leaders, parents, and external agencies to provide coordinated support
- Monitor student progress, behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing, ensuring appropriate interventions are implemented
- Promote inclusion by helping students develop confidence, resilience, independence, and effective coping strategies
- Act as a positive role model and help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
What we’re looking for
- Experience working with young people in education, mentoring, youth work, social care, pastoral support, or a similar setting
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach when supporting students with additional needs
- Confidence in supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or those at risk of disengagement from education
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while using initiative
- Passion for promoting inclusion and improving outcomes for every young person
