Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Support Mentor to join a well-respected Secondary School in Middleton, Rochdale. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them to achieve their full potential within education.

The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support for a student with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who displays challenging behaviours. You will work closely with the school's pastoral and inclusion teams to implement tailored strategies that encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide consistent 1:1 mentoring and emotional support to the student throughout the school day.
  • Implement and monitor behaviour support plans under the guidance of the SENCO and Behaviour Lead.
  • Use de-escalation and restorative approaches to manage challenging situations effectively.
  • Foster positive relationships that promote trust, respect and self-confidence.
  • Liaise regularly with teachers, pastoral staff and parents/carers to ensure consistent communication and progress.
Requirements:
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting is essential - applications from candidates without this experience cannot be considered.
  • A background supporting young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
  • Strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills.
  • Resilience, patience and a calm, nurturing approach.
  • Experience within an Alternative Provision (AP) or Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) is highly desirable.
  • Team Teach or similar behaviour management training would be advantageous.
