Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated 1:1 Behaviour Teaching Assistant to support a student within a thriving Secondary School in Stockport. This is a full-time position starting ASAP and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the educational journey of a young person who requires additional behavioural and emotional support.

We are seeking resilient, compassionate and highly skilled candidates who have a proven background supporting young people with behavioural challenges and additional needs within educational settings.

Important Applicant Requirements

  • Only applicants with previous school-based experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working within schools or educational settings.
  • Experience supporting students displaying challenging behaviour.
  • Experience working within Secondary Schools, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), Alternative Provisions (APs), or specialist educational settings.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.
  • Experience working with students who have a range of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) requirements.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive, professional relationships with young people.
  • A patient, calm and resilient approach when supporting students who may present complex behavioural needs.

The Role

As a 1:1 Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a specific student who requires additional support to engage positively with learning and school life. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies and interventions.
  • Supporting the student's emotional regulation and social development.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external agencies.
  • Encouraging positive engagement with lessons and school routines.
  • Recording progress, incidents and achievements where required.
  • Promoting a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

This role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Support Assistant or Youth Worker with substantial experience within Secondary education and specialist behavioural settings.

Pay Structure

  • £110 per day - Candidates with a minimum of 2 years' relevant school-based experience.
  • £120 per day - Candidates with a minimum of 3 years' experience working within UK Secondary Schools.
  • £130 per day - Candidates with a minimum of 3 years' experience working within UK Secondary Schools, including at least 6 months' experience within a Secondary PRU, Alternative Provision (AP), or SEN School.
