About the Role:

  • Planning and delivering engaging Art & Design lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 advantageous)
  • Teaching a broad curriculum including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, digital art, photography or textiles (depending on the school)
  • Encouraging creativity, experimentation, and independent thinking
  • Assessing students' practical work and providing clear, constructive feedback
  • Developing pupils' technical skills alongside their understanding of artists, movements, and visual culture
  • Managing behaviour effectively in line with school policies
  • Working collaboratively with department colleagues and pastoral teams
  • Supporting enrichment opportunities such as art clubs, exhibitions, competitions, or school displays

You’ll have the opportunity to work in different school settings, allowing you to find the environment that best matches your teaching style.

Requirements:

  • QTS or QTLS (or strong FE teaching experience with relevant subject delivery)
  • Experience teaching Art & Design within a secondary school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for creativity and visual arts
  • A proactive, organised, and enthusiastic approach
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Two professional references covering the last two years
