Mental Health & Wellbeing Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision
Tradewind Recruitment are seeking an empathetic and dedicated Mental Health & Wellbeing Teaching Assistant to join our client school, an Alternative Provision based in Bromley-by-Bow, from 1st September.
This rewarding full-time role involves supporting students aged 11-18 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
You will play a key role in promoting emotional wellbeing, helping students regulate their emotions and supporting them to access education successfully.
Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and therapists, you will build trusted relationships with pupils while providing daily emotional and behavioural support.
Main Duties
Provide emotional and wellbeing support to students.
Deliver one-to-one mentoring sessions.
Support students experiencing anxiety, emotional dysregulation and behavioural challenges.
Help implement behaviour support plans.
Encourage positive coping strategies and resilience.
Work alongside teaching and pastoral teams.
Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Person Specification
Essential experience supporting young people with SEMH.
Previous experience in Alternative Provision, SEN, PRU, youth work or mental health services is desirable.
Calm, compassionate and resilient nature.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
Passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
