A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Bolton is seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Therapeutic Teaching Assistant to join their support team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education professional who is passionate about supporting young people facing social, emotional and mental health challenges. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, build positive relationships, and achieve both academically and personally.
As a Therapeutic Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support within the school environment. You will provide targeted interventions, promote emotional wellbeing, and support students in developing the skills and resilience needed to succeed in school.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support for students with additional needs.
- Supporting pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and SEND.
- Delivering therapeutic and pastoral interventions to improve engagement and wellbeing.
- Assisting students in managing emotions, behaviour and relationships.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Supporting classroom learning and encouraging participation.
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching and pastoral staff.
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
Essential Requirements:
Please note: Only applicants with previous experience working within schools or educational settings will be considered for this position. To be successful in this role, you must have:
