Temporary School Librarian - Secondary School Little Lever, Bolton ASAP Start

Tradewind Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Little Lever, Bolton, who are seeking to appoint a temporary Librarian to join their team immediately. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced school-based professional who is passionate about supporting literacy, independent learning, and student development within an educational setting.

Role Overview

As the School Librarian, you will play a key role in managing the day-to-day running of the school library. You will support students and staff by promoting reading for pleasure, assisting with research and study skills, and maintaining an organised and engaging learning environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To raise the profile of reading and research in its widest forms across the academy
  • To promote the enjoyment of reading, both within the library and throughout the wider school community
  • To support the Principal and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in developing a Library and Information Policy, reviewing it regularly to ensure it reflects the academy's aims and objectives
  • To contribute to the Academy Improvement Plan, particularly in relation to the development and implementation of a strategic library plan
  • To recognise, celebrate and reward pupils' success in developing their reading skills across the academy
  • To support pupils in developing effective research skills, fostering independent learning
  • To develop and implement library policies and procedures that support the academy in achieving its educational targets

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the daily operation of the school library
  • Managing and maintaining library resources, including cataloguing and stock control
  • Supporting students with reading, research, and independent study
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to support curriculum delivery
  • Creating a welcoming, inclusive, and purposeful learning environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a school or educational setting is essential
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • A genuine passion for education and student support
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider school team
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Pay & Details

  • 110-120 per day (dependent on experience)
  • Full-time, temporary position
  • Immediate start available
