Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Stockport to appoint an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school environment where staff are dedicated to fostering both academic and personal development.

The Role

  • As an SEND TA, you will work closely with teaching staff and the school's SENCO to deliver tailored support to students with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to assist in both classroom-based and one-to-one settings, adapting materials and strategies to help pupils access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to students with SEND on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing EHCP strategies and individual learning plans
  • Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
  • Monitor and record student progress, reporting to relevant staff
  • Promote positive behaviour in line with the school's policy

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working in schools or educational settings is essential - applications from candidates without relevant school-based experience will not be considered
  • Strong understanding of SEND and how to support young people with additional needs
  • A calm, nurturing approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent desirable)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for a new one)
  • Availability to work full-time from 22nd April 2025
