Tradewind Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and forward-thinking Secondary School in Salford, who are seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Arts and Ceramics Technician to join their creative faculty from 1st September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a practical, organised and creative individual who is passionate about supporting young people within the arts.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Art and Design department, with a particular focus on ceramics, pottery and mixed media projects across Key Stages 3 and 4. The school has a strong commitment to creative education and prides itself on offering students a broad and engaging curriculum. You will be joining a supportive department with excellent facilities, including a dedicated ceramics studio and kiln area.
Key responsibilities:- Preparing materials, tools and equipment for Art and Ceramics lessons
- Supporting teachers and students during practical sessions
- Maintaining and operating kilns safely and effectively
- Assisting with glazing, clay preparation and ceramics processes
- Managing stock levels and ordering art supplies where required
- Ensuring all classrooms, workshops and storage areas remain safe, tidy and organised
- Supporting the display of student artwork around the school
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations within the department
- Have previous experience working within an Art, Ceramics or Creative Arts environment
- Be confident working with ceramics equipment and kiln processes
- Possess excellent organisational and time management skills
- Be proactive, reliable and able to work independently
- Have a genuine passion for supporting creative learning in education
- Previous school-based experience is desirable but not essential
