The Role
As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide academic, pastoral, and emotional support to students across the school.
Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include
- Supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in a range of subjects.
- Providing one‑to‑one and small group support to improve student progress, confidence, and engagement.
- Supporting students with additional learning needs, including SEND where required.
- Assisting teachers with classroom activities, lesson preparation, and learning resources.
- Delivering targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy, and subject‑specific areas.
- Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and active participation in learning.
- Building strong, positive relationships with teenagers and acting as a trusted role model.
- Supporting students with their social, emotional, and academic development. Assisting with classroom management to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Supporting students during assessments and examinations where required.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support individual student needs.
- Contributing to wider school activities and enrichment opportunities.
