Are you a qualified Teacher of the Deaf looking to make a meaningful difference within an inclusive primary school?
We are delighted to support a highly regarded primary school in Redbridge in recruiting a specialist Teacher of the Deaf to join their Hearing Impairment Resource Base from September 2026.
This is an opportunity to work within an outstanding school recognised for its commitment to inclusive education and high‑quality specialist provision.
You'll play a key role in ensuring deaf pupils thrive academically and socially within a mainstream primary environment.
Opportunity
Working within the school's dedicated Hearing Impairment Provision, you will support a small cohort of pupils across Key Stage 2, delivering specialist teaching while helping children access the wider curriculum alongside their peers.
You'll work closely with class teachers, support staff, families and external professionals to create an inclusive learning experience that enables every child to achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist teaching for deaf pupils within the resource base and mainstream classrooms.
- Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual communication and learning needs.
- Support pupils' language, literacy and social development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to promote inclusion across the school.
- Monitor progress and contribute to personalised learning plans.
- Build strong partnerships with parents, carers and specialist services.
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A recognised Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) qualification (essential).
- A minimum Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification.
- Experience supporting deaf children within a primary setting.
- Excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum.
- A total communication approach and a commitment to inclusive practice.
- Outstanding communication and collaborative working skills.
