Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant

Start Date: ASAP (until July 2026)

Location: Havering (accessible by car with parking and by public transport)

Year Group: Lower Key Stage 2 (LKS2)

Salary: Β£90-Β£100 per day PAYE

Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, term time only, full time

Tradewind are currently recruiting for an experienced and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child with complex special educational needs in a welcoming primary school in Havering. The role involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil in LKS2 with ASD and behavioural challenges, helping them to engage positively in learning and school life.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have strong experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASD) and behavioural needs
  • Be patient, nurturing, and resilient, with a calm and empathetic approach
  • Be able to provide concise and clear instructions to promote understanding and engagement
  • Demonstrate effective strategies for managing behaviour in a positive and consistent way
  • Have previous experience in specialist provisions or SEN schools
  • Build trusting relationships with the child and wider school community
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff

Compliance Essentials:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Professional references covering the last 2 years
  • CV covering full employment history since leaving formal education
