Tradewind Recruitment is supporting a primary school in the Lambeth area who require a School Caretaker / Premises Assistant on a temporary contract basis, starting after the May half term. This would be a full-time, temporary contract until July 2026. Hours are typically structured around the school day, including early morning opening and late afternoon closing.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and security of the school site.
- Opening and closing the building.
- Carrying out minor repairs and maintenance.
- Managing deliveries.
- Ensuring communal spaces and outdoor areas are clean and safe.
- Supporting the preparation of rooms for events.
- Working closely with the headteacher and business manager to prioritise tasks.
- Liaising with contractors and ensuring the site complies with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a school caretaker, site manager or in a similar facilities role.
- Practical maintenance skills including minor repairs, plumbing and joinery (basic level).
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to a school or public building environment.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative to manage a varied workload.
- Physical fitness to carry out manual tasks and manage the site effectively.
- DBS clearance or willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
- Reliable, flexible and proactive approach to site management.
- You must have up to date health and safety training and hold a child only enhanced DBS.
