Are you a passionate History specialist who loves bringing the past to life? Do you enjoy inspiring young people to think critically, debate confidently, and understand the world through history? Secondary schools and colleges across Northampton are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic History Teachers / Lecturers to join their teams from February or April 2026. These roles offer opportunities to teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with KS5 and post-16 teaching available in some settings. Long-term and permanent positions are available in supportive, forward-thinking environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for qualified teachers, FE lecturers, or strong History graduates with relevant experience who are looking to develop their career across secondary and post-16 education.

The Role Will Involve:

  • Planning and delivering engaging History lessons across secondary and/or post-16 levels
  • Teaching a broad and balanced History curriculum in line with national or awarding body specifications
  • Encouraging discussion, debate, and independent historical thinking
  • Assessing student work and providing clear, constructive feedback
  • Monitoring progress and supporting learners to achieve their potential
  • Contributing to curriculum development, enrichment activities, and trips
  • Working collaboratively with departments and wider school/college teams

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has strong subject knowledge in History
  • Holds QTS, a teaching qualification, or FE teaching experience (or is willing to work towards this)
  • Has experience teaching in secondary schools and/or colleges (desirable)
  • Is engaging, confident, and passionate about education
  • Has strong classroom or group management skills
  • Is committed to inclusive teaching and learner success
