Art Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision School
Tradewind Recruitment are working with our client school, an Alternative Provision based in Bromley-by-Bow, to recruit a creative and enthusiastic Art Teaching Assistant to join their team from 1st September.
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting pupils aged 11-18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The school believes that creativity plays a vital role in helping young people build confidence, express emotions and re-engage with education.
As an Art Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the Art Teacher to deliver engaging lessons while providing individual and small group support to students who require additional guidance.
The Role
- Support Art lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Assist students with practical art projects using a range of materials and techniques.
- Encourage creativity, confidence and self-expression.
- Support pupils who require emotional and behavioural guidance during lessons.
- Prepare resources and maintain a safe, organised classroom.
- Build positive relationships that encourage engagement and attendance.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation throughout the school day.
- The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH is essential.
- Experience in an Alternative Provision, PRU, SEN school or mainstream setting supporting additional needs.
- A genuine interest in art, creativity or design.
- Patient, resilient and adaptable.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- Passionate about helping vulnerable young people achieve their potential.
