About the Role

We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated tutors to work with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or have been excluded or disengaged from mainstream education. Many of our learners require a patient, trauma-informed approach and benefit from 1:1 or small-group tuition tailored to their individual needs.

This role is ideal for someone who believes in second chances and is committed to helping young people rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, personalised tuition sessions (1:1 or small group)
  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs
  • Support students with emotional regulation, confidence, and motivation
  • Work in line with EHCPs, behaviour plans, and individual learning plans
  • Maintain clear session records and provide feedback on progress
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students and families

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience working with SEN students and/or students excluded from school
  • Calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour and learning
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to adapt lessons creatively and flexibly
  • Understanding of trauma-informed or restorative practice (desirable)

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tutoring, teaching, youth work, or SEN experience
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Reliability and professionalism

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Teaching qualification or SEN-specific training
  • Experience in alternative provision, PRUs, or SEMH settings
  • Knowledge of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or anxiety-related needs
