Tradewind Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a highly regarded federation of five maintained nursery schools in the London Borough of Lambeth in the recruitment of an experienced and proactive School Business Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established federation at an exciting time, taking over from a long-serving Business Manager who is retiring after many successful years. An earlier start date is available to allow for a comprehensive handover, ensuring a smooth transition into the role.
You will be line managed and work closely with the Executive Business Manager who oversees across all 5 nurseries. You will play a pivotal support role to the Executive Business Manager, in the strategic and operational management of the federation, ensuring the highest standards of financial and business management across all five schools.
The Role
- Full-time, 8:30am - 4:30pm
- Term time only plus one additional week
- PO2 Salary Scale
- September 2026 start (with flexibility for an earlier handover period)
Key Responsibilities
As School Business Manager, you will lead on all aspects of the federation's business operations, including:
- Financial management, budgeting and monitoring
- Payroll and HR administration
- Premises and facilities management
- Health and Safety compliance
- Procurement and contract management
- Oversight of administrative systems and processes
- Management Information Systems, including SIMS
- Supporting the Executive Headteacher with strategic planning and operational efficiency
- Ensuring compliance with statutory and financial regulations
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a skilled and organised School Business Manager who:
- Has previous experience working within a school business management role
- Possesses strong financial management and budgeting experience
- Has working knowledge of SIMS (or similar school MIS)
- Understands HR processes, premises management and Health & Safety within an education setting
- Is an excellent communicator with outstanding organisational skills
- Can manage multiple priorities across a federation of schools
- Is committed to supporting outstanding early years education through effective business leadership
