Early Years SEND Teaching Assistants - Nursery & Reception (Mainstream Primary)

Location: Lambeth

Contract Types: Full-time & Part-time (Monday-Friday commitment)

Start Dates: February half term onwards (with flexibility)

Are you an Early Years specialist Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting young children with additional needs at the very start of their learning journey? We are working closely with a number of inclusive mainstream primary schools across the London Borough of Lambeth who are seeking Early Years SEND Teaching Assistants to support children in Nursery and Reception, many of whom have ASD and associated communication, social, and sensory needs.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to work in nurturing Early Years settings, supporting children through play-based learning and helping them develop confidence, independence, and essential early skills.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for children with SEND in Nursery and Reception
  • Support communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction, particularly for pupils with ASD
  • Assist with play-based and child-led learning in line with the EYFS framework
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to support EHCP targets and individual support plans
  • Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive Early Years environment
  • Support with transitions, routines, and personal development as needed

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has Early Years experience (Nursery or Reception essential)
  • Holds a Level 1 Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2/3 or Early Years qualification desirable)
  • Confident supporting young children with ASD and additional needs in a mainstream setting
  • Warm, patient, and nurturing, with a strong understanding of early child development
  • Committed to inclusion, wellbeing, and positive early learning experiences
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
  • Available Monday-Friday (part-time roles still require weekday availability)
