We are seeking a qualified British Sign Language (BSL) Specialist to work alongside a hearing‑impaired student in a secondary school in Rotherham. This is a full‑time, fixed‑term role starting as soon as possible and running until July 2026. You will play a vital role in supporting the student's access to education by interpreting and facilitating communication throughout the school day.
The Role
- Provide BSL interpretation for a hearing‑impaired student during lessons and school activities
- Support the student to fully access the curriculum and engage with teachers and peers
- Work closely with teaching staff, SEN staff, and external professionals to support the student's needs
- Adapt communication methods as required to suit the student and learning environment
Requirements
- British Sign Language qualification – Level 3 minimum (essential)
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting
- Strong communication skills and a supportive, patient approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a school team
