Tradewind Recruitment is working alongside a supportive and ambitious secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic English Teacher from September 2026. The school is open to both contract and permanent appointments, making this a great opportunity for experienced teachers and ECTs alike.
You will be joining a positive school community that is committed to high standards of teaching and learning, with a strong focus on student progress, engagement, and personal development.
The Role
Teach engaging and purposeful English lessons across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 teaching available depending on experience.
Deliver well-planned lessons that develop students' reading, writing, comprehension, analysis, and communication skills.
Encourage students to explore and appreciate a diverse range of literary texts.
Create opportunities for discussion, debate, critical thinking, and creative writing.
Adapt lessons and resources to support students with different abilities and learning needs, including SEND and EAL.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
Establish high expectations for behaviour, effort, and academic achievement.
Work alongside the English department to develop schemes of work and contribute to curriculum planning.
Support literacy initiatives, enrichment activities, clubs, and wider school events.
About You
Hold QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Have strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature.
Have experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
Be confident managing a classroom and creating a positive learning environment.
Have the ability to engage students and make English accessible to learners of all abilities.
Be committed to achieving high standards and helping every student make progress. xgikmsk
